Both Greeks and Carthaginians don't have fully upgradable academy units in Iron, and they both die to Archers and Priests far better than Mace do.Д¬omposite Bowmen: Minoa. Nobody uses them much anyway.ДЄcademy units: Mace, with Greek and Carthage runner-up. Choson Long Swords and Legions can take more damage, though. Roman Swordsmen can dish out a LOT of damage, they come cheap, and there can be twice as many of them as of any other unit. Assyria lacks Nobility and Chain Mail in Iron. Egypt can soak up more damage, Hittite can dish out more.

Now, when it comes to which civs are actually the best, try the following unit/civ combos: Their Camels are pretty nice, of course, but by the time they get them, others will already almost have HHA. The only time I'd play Palmy would be if I were a feeder. As for Palmy, they're probably the slowest civ around. The same thing applies to Carthage, except that Carthage is sligthly better, with Camels and at least Improved Bowmen in Bronze. Greeks are probably pretty good in a Death Match, though. They're as slow as anyone, and have no archers except bowmen, which doesn't really cut it. Hey, I was being IRONIC, okay? It seems to me that when some people ask which civ is the best, they mean which civ has the most damaging units.

You need to spend time in Iron before you can reach Greek's full potential. Greek is pathetic until Bronze when they are week. Overall, thier tree is OK, but why use them when you've got Hittite, Egyptian, Yam, Assy, and so on. If you like to research all the technologies, well, ok, use Greek :} Technologies: Well, other than in the temple, this is where they do the best. If you were using those to your advantage Bab, Shang, and others are so much better than that.

But why use 'em while you got Hittite, Phoanny, Minoan, etc? In team, I like Hitt or Egypt, sometimes Sumer. In 1v1 slow civ I go with Hit or Egypt, sometimes Minoa Yam, I say: cheapest out there and get all the upgrades I give it to Minioan compies because of their rangeДЄssy horse archers rule more damage than any other missle unit becasue of their rate of fire more damage than even the +1 Hit Heavt Horse archer with alchemy. In Dm you have to consider Greek they get all academy upgrades and once you get aristocracy, their academy units are pretty fast.

Mace is up there, because of resistance to missle fireД¬hosen ranks as well, if you get their legions A rolling mass of Egyptian SCs is a scary thing.ДЇor dishing it out: Assy (runer up Hittite)
